Masters project and first real book.

Working on my masters project wasn’t as easy as I expected. In terms of a topic, we were free and the pressure of coming up with a personal, moving story, that was actually possible to complete in one academic year, wasn’t a great help either. At first I came up with a whole different concept, but its complexity made it very difficult to write a compelling narrative around.

So I again, looked at the stories of old and got inspired by ‘David and Goliath’. However, this time, I said to myself, I wanted to create a setting where the giant and the boy were actually friends.

My book tells the story of Leif, a young boy, who had been abandoned by his nomadic tribe. He helplessly searches for his family, but instead meets an equally lonely, slightly choleric but ultimately friendly giant. It is a story about loneliness, about community and the anger that can arise when society expels you, but first and foremost, it is about two lonely souls, finding solace in each other’s company.
